Fisheries’ safety course

The course, which takes place on the training ship Athene, uses practical exercises and theoretical courses to teach students about safety at sea, use of rescue equipment and maintenance. The use of life-saving suits, life jackets, life rafts and man overboard rescue boats is also covered. You will be trained to handle accidents, evacuation and rescue operations. You will also learn about ergonomics, hypothermia, working environment and occupational safety while fishing at sea and how the rescue and helicopter services operate, and last but not least how to get help when you need it. In addition, you will learn first aid and acquire the skills required to use medicine chest C and participate in fire fighting.
Duration: 15 days
The course takes place in fishing ports around the country.
