Medicine chest B

Basic training
The course will give you knowledge of anatomy and physiology to enable you to write an accident report and perform simple, objective examinations of injured persons. You will learn to send information to Radio Medical and to provide first aid. You will also receive training in the use of resuscitation equipment, giving injections and administering IVs, stitching wounds and maintaining fluid balance, circulation pressure, respiration and immobilisation pressure. Furthermore, you will learn about the contents of the medicine chest, the medication’s effects, side-effects, poisoning and risks of allergic reactions.
Duration: 4 days
The course can take place in local fishing ports.
The course concludes with a qualifying exam.

Follow-up
The course will refresh your knowledge of first aid and communication with Radio Medical. You will be trained to give injections and administer an IV. Refresher course in medical care at sea. Review of the contents of medicine chest B, including the administrative tasks related to the use and maintenance of medicine chests as well as information about new equipment/medication.
Admission requirements: You must have acquired a medical assistant certificate for minimum medicine chest B within the past 5 years.
Duration: 3 days
The course can take place in local fishing ports.
The course concludes with a qualifying exam.
